I’ve been through similar ordeals too giggy. Ordeals seem to be common when you start dealing with these third world countries. Infact I am going through one but hopefully will be out soon.
We look forward to hearing about your escapades. You have an interesting life. My biggest questions are:
1. Do you plan to stay for several months in Miami and if so why don’t you rent an apartment on South Beach for 9 months at an average of $40 per night instead of paying the more than $100 per night that it costs to stay at the Beacon?
2. Has Belize taken any action to seize all of your assets in Belize which you say is everything you have and a loss that would leave you destitute and homeless?
3. What have you learned from this whole experience that you didn’t know before but know now?
4. What would be your advice to other American citizens that are considering moving to Belize and other 3rd world countries for their retirement?
5. I believe that the corruption that you experienced in Belize in endemic throughout nearly all of the 3rd world. Do you agree? Would this stop you from traveling to 3rd world countries in the future?
john, i have experienced similar ordeals , and yes some of them are right out of belize also, i have been traveling there for over 12 years and i understand everything you wrote about , especially the ways of the belizean people, lol.
i will be heading back down there either the end of december or january so if you need anything drop me a line. be strong.

I think the worst thing to do is to retire in third world country, where the legal system is always broken. I considered this and passed on it.
Yes the corruption is same as in any other 3rd world country..
All of the above is from my several years living in different 3rd world countries
