“It is with great sorrow that I report the death of one of the greatest lawyers in the Americas, and former Attorney General for the country of Guatemala. A man who undoubtedly saved my life and my sanity!”
On Sunday, April 21, 2013 Telésforo Guerra Cahn (76) passed away peacefully in Guatemala city after a final battle with stomach cancer. My most heartfelt sympathies go out to Mr. Guerra’s family, friends and colleagues.

“The adjective sycophantic is perfect for describing someone who uses flattery to get what they want. The sycophantic guy in your biology class might compliment the professor on her fabulous shoes as he hands in his lab report.”
How is offering your condolences being sycophantic? Not only was he John’s lawyer but he is also Sam’s uncle. In a polite society, this is what people do.
Why put negative labels on something that should be a societal norm. How does your comment forward the conversation?

The replies are so sycophantic.

You and Sam must feel deep sorrow … he seemed like a nice man who would of helped you regardless of the family connection.

Much respect to a great man. I enjoyed his chuckle – at your humor, you meeting him, shaking his hand, sitting at cafe table, the way you first introduced yourself- he said – no I don’t know who you are- then at table you were so funny- he laughed and I felt it. Sad loss. My condolences to you and your family.
Best. KK

Wow, this is indeed sad news.
I am sorry for your’s and Sam’s loss. He seemed like such a nice man. Competent, polite, and a wonderful smile.
My prayers are with you all during your time of grief. I hope he went peacefully and not too painfully.
Br safe John and allow yourself time to mourn. He did a great job of keeping you alive 🙂
