In order to understand Mr. McAfee’s actions regarding the Coast Guard, the Police and the GSU, you will first have to understand his perspective. I want to take a break from the events happening directly to Mr. McAfee, to the larger issue of Government corruption in Belize:
Mr. McAfee has consistently been ridiculed in the press because he insists that the Government is lying and that they may kill him if he is apprehended. Keep in mind that Mr. McAfee has created this blog, the sole purpose of which is to expose corruption within the Belizean Government and has posted more than 60 posts laying out his beliefs. In addition, the blog is highly successful and has created enormous PR problems for the Government. 70% of all employees in Belize depend on tourism for their salaries, so public perception is key to the survival of the economy. If the Government of Belize was perceived in the public eye to be corrupt as a result of this blog, and if in fact the Government is corrupt, then it would not be unexpected for them to punish Mr. McAfee severely for this huge offense.
We should first ask whether the Government would tell a lie about Mr. McAfee. When he tells the press that the Government does lie about him, he is ridiculed.
I would like to provide one key example out of many, in which the Government has lied about what it is doing in regards to Mr. McAfee:
On November 29th, the Police raided Mr. McAfee’s property in San Pedro. Fifteen heavilly armed officers, some wearing the traditional GSU black uniform with face masks, broke in, spent two hours searching the 11 buildings on his site, took over a half million dollars worth of property and lefrt. While they were there, they locked up and terrorized the housekeeper, and threatened Samantha’s father with torture. When Mr. McAfee reported the raid here on this blog, the government denied any involvement. This is Channel Five’s report:
“Both the police press officer and the head of the GSU say that there was no search at McAfee’s property and that in fact, the unit was not even in San Pedro today.”
Here is the link to the Channel 5 report:
http://edition.channel5belize.com/archives/78997
Normally in Belize, this is where it would end. Mr. McAfee, however had arranged witnesses to the event (17 American tourists in one of his boats) and, in spite of the usual “If you talk we will kill you” threats that the GSU uses, Samantha’s father, Nestor, talked on the phone with Chad and told his story:
The following day, the Government changed its story:
“News Five has since received confirmation from the Government that a raid was in fact carried out at McAfee’s property”
Here is the news report:
http://edition.channel5belize.com/archives/79050
So certainly, the Government has lied about its activities regarding Mr. McAfee. There are many more incidences, equally as astonishing, that we will be revealing.
The next question is: Is the Government of Belize Corrupt?
Freedomhouse has this to say:
Government corruption remains a serious problem. Belize is the only country in Central America that is not a party to the UN Convention against Corruption.
___________
Journalists or others who question the financial disclosures of government officials may face up to three years in prison or up to US$2,500 in fines.
___________
Defendants can remain in pretrial detention for years amid a heavy case backlog; about one-fifth of the country’s detainees are awaiting trial.
___________
In September, the government brokered a truce among rival gangs in response to complaints made by residents and alleged gang members of police brutality by the Gang Suppression Unit. Extrajudicial killings (State sanctions murders) and the use of excessive force remain concerns.
___________
Belize was added to the U.S. list of “major” drug producing and transit countries in 2011 because of large numbers of drugs and weapons seized along its border with Mexico and weak anticorruption measures. According to the International Center for Prison Studies, Belize has the world’s 9th-highest prisoner-to-public ratio, with about 439 inmates per 100,000 inhabitants. Prisons do not meet minimum international standards.
_____________
Belize is a source, transit, and destination country for women and children trafficked for prostitution and forced labor. The majority of trafficked women are from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The trafficking of workers from South Asia and China for forced labor has also been uncovered in recent years.
….
You can view the report from Freedomhouse here: http://www.freedomhouse.org/report/freedom-world/2012/belize
…..
In addition to the Freedomhouse Study, Transparency International, the international organization that champions honesty and shames countries for being dishonest, Ranks Belize near the bottom. On a scale where ten is clean and zero is considered 100% corrupt, Belize is given a score of 2. Channel Five broadcast the report:
http://edition.channel5belize.com/archives/433
…..
So it seems that without any additional documentation from Mr. McAfee, Belize is clearly a corrupt country.
But would The Government of Belize kill someone who is a problem for the Government?
Extrajudicial (State Sanctioned) killings were listed by Freedomhouse, above, as one of the problems in Belize. The following news reports from just a few months ago demonstrate how they are carried out:
The Police’s explained that while transporting Arthur Young (a man only wanted for questiong) in the back of a Police pickup truck, he attempted to take away a Police Officer’s weapon. He did this while he was handcuffed (hands behind his back) and even though he was guarded by multiple armed officers. Police say that during the struggle, the gun went off and Young was shot fatally.
http://www.belizetimes.bz/2012/04/26/barrow-has-blood-on-his-hands-government-executes-arthur-young/
As an indication that the police routinely carry out state sanctioned murders, The Commissioner of Police, David Henderson, was asked whether or not the killing was state sanctioned:
Jules Vasquez
“Is this a state-sponsored execution?”
David Henderson
“I will not speculate.”
You can read the full interview here:
http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=22270
Clearly, State sponsored murders do happen.
Now, in spite of these overwhelming facts – The Government lies about it is Doing to Mr. McAfee, it is obviously corrupt and it obviously murders people who are in the way – the press still responds incredulous when Mr. McAfee says “I have seriously pissed them off with my blog and my speaking out against them. I think they may kill me”.
Which one is crazy: The press, or Mr. McAfee?
Any rationaal human would believe the same as Mr. McAfee. In a Country where you can be sent to prison for questioning a Ministers finances, what do you think the Government would do to someone who published a blog such as this?
December 9, 2012 at 2:33 pm
Speaking from experience? Where is Singapore on the corruption list?
December 9, 2012 at 2:28 pm
These trolls are hired guns …
December 2, 2012 at 9:11 pm
If John thinks he can remain in BZ safely, even with guards, after this event than he must be crazy. He needs to get to a country of safety and hire a connected UDP lawyer to fight his case locally. I know BZ and they will strip him of all his property and throw him out of the country if he is innocent. If he is found guilty he will be sent to Hattiville Prison which, even by Central American standards, a hell hole.
December 2, 2012 at 3:21 pm
Thanks for this and god bless!
December 2, 2012 at 11:18 am
According to your blog, you’ve “probably” been captured so I guess you won’t answer this but: again, I find it utterly strange that you fel you should have the same protections in Belize as in the United States. A “warrant”? Does Belize have an ACLU, a Bill of Rights, a cadre of lobbyists constantly demanding the government behave? Because that’s what it takes to make a government behave. You keep telling us you love this country in between telling us how corrupt it is and then insisting ou have “rights” that have been abrogated. You seem not to understand that once you leave the US, you give up many of those rights.
No, I don’t watch Fox News, to the nasty commenter who suggested that in an earlier post.
December 2, 2012 at 5:06 am
Hey John, I would by all pretense find the police in that country to be very much or more on the take
December 2, 2012 at 3:50 am
Your in the Right John so you must keep up the heat. You know this though it’s good to hear a ‘second’. You already have enough to put those against you far beneath you. The evidence is what it is, nill, the defense is a damning account against those that wish you harm. There is far mor evidence against those that wish you harm than that which is against you as a suspect? No, there is No evidence agaisnt you as a suspect. There are many innocent people in Belize and there are victims. Never allow yourself to be that of the latter. You’re better than that from what “I” can gather. They are guilty beyond any recourse. Keep the faith. Trust me when I say, as I’m sure you know by now, they have ‘much’ more to hide than you could/would ever imagine! Just ask the Dept. of the Treasury, Well meaning folk within the CIA, FBI, Secret Service, MI5, M6, DHS, SIS, and so many others. Many are paying attention for there is much at stake on all sides. 🙂
December 2, 2012 at 1:55 am
Came here due to Josh’s Wired article to see how the crazy guy is doing. Listened to the Alex Jones interview too. You don’t seem all that crazy at all.
Wrote the press director an email note. Hope it helps the cause.
They really need to get off your case. But it looks like they’ve over-committed and may have no way of backing out.
The person suggesting a good offense may be your best bet. (Maybe this just suits my own adversarial personality, though ;-).
I’m pulling for you.
December 2, 2012 at 1:18 am
“I” never made such statements online.
I have always presumed McAfee to be innocent from my own analysis. For the ‘assumption’ this email was directed at myself, without presumption to an alterior motive, please discriminate where your assumption lies in reference to myself. I ‘should’ find this very strange to receive this email. I will continue to support McAfee because I truly believe I understand his situation and where he is coming from. Perhaps, your emails correspondence has been mistaken of me? I have never attacked McAfee nor have I ever intended to. I have only supported him and his effort to recuse himself of the crimes perpetrated against him. I have had my set of experiences in Belize that far surpass what he has experienced. If you understood this for what it ‘Is’ you would understand my position. Pleas explain your position and just ‘where’ it applies to myself. Personally, this appears to be a ‘test’ of some sort as to my character or where my loyalties lie. I trust in Reason, Justice, Jurisprudence when/where found, as usual. Do you know myself? It appears you claim such though apparently you are mistaken? If this is a joke, understood, a test?, even more so, though I’m interested as to how another could come to such a conclusion about myself LOL! If the conclusion is legit, it is far off the mark of reality. I wish the best for McAfee and will continue to support his case regardless of his imperfections…..as all are imperfect. You should know better? hahah.
December 1, 2012 at 2:52 pm
this.
i, too, would like to now as I’m now confused by the sequence and chronology of events.
December 1, 2012 at 1:21 pm
___What do you want? “Wired” has been a [tech] fashion magazine since its inception.
___
___Josh points from the reddit thread to a recording of John’s description of an eerie and unsettling experience he had when members of the GSU did nothing but stare at him for a protracted length of time. Josh implies that the only rational explanation is that John was delusional.
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/11/mcafee-unhinged/
___I feel somewhat guilty for not having contributed this earlier, but, in my defense, I DID try to write a post to convey this information, but found the approach I had chosen — providing detailed historical evidence — made it imprudent for me to post the result:
___I have had 2 experiences similar to John’s being stared at by the GSU; once in the early ’70s, and on a number of different occasions at a particular location in the late ’90s. Both involved [what I assume to be] national security issues. Suffice it to say that the guards assigned to protect certain personnel or facilities apparently had standing orders not to interact with onlookers unless some emergency criteria were met. (Thankfully, in my case, these criteria were apparently never met.) I was lucky, in that I happened to have one or more friends accompanying me in each instance that this occurred, or I truly would have believed that I had gone nuts. I can vouch that this technique demonstrates an unusually strong show of force without anything actually happening. As is well known to those who make horror films, the terror resulting from a person’s imagination often surpasses the terror resulting from anything real.
___All I can figure is that in some bastardized combination of the traditional “Hollywood” backstage directive of ‘never make eye contact with the star’ vs. an information theoretic analysis of encounters with an eye toward providing minimal information, memes, or historical record stemming from the contact, the tactic of ordering security personnel to avoid interaction must have evolved. [Actually, this hypothesized order would be analogous to the reason it is almost always best to exercise your ‘right to remain silent’; it has been my experience that people will either use what you actually say against you in unforeseeable ways, legitimately misremember what you said, or make up self- or organisation-serving lies related to what you said. But if you say nothing, they have nothing to work with.] Add to this the possibility that the GSU’s bosses may have had reason to suspect or fear John’s Nixon-like propensity for recording events.
___I would not expect this level of sophisticated behavior from novice security officers employed in a 3rd-world country. However, if the technology has been around for 40 years or more, maybe it made it into a “security forces 101 textbook” or something. I don’t know. It is not my field. I can only relate my unusual experiences, and point out that they provide an existence theorem supporting the possibility that the unusual experience which John related actually occurred.
December 1, 2012 at 11:38 am
@SyOp, I respectfully submit that your position is indefensible. The last sentence of the Ch. 5 piece reads, “McAfee is wanted for questioning but there are no other suspects in this murder.”
___Let me break it down for you. This compound sentence transforms to:
“McAfee is wanted for questioning.”
and
“There are no other suspects in this murder.”
The latter transforms to:
“There is a suspect in this murder.”
and
“There are no others.”
The subject of the first sentence of the compound sentence is “McAfee”. By context, this subject carries over to become the assumed subject of the second sentence. Substituting this subject into the result of our tranformations, “There is a suspect in this murder.” yields, “McAfee is a suspect in this murder.” “There are no others.” tells us that “McAfee” is their only suspect. This chain of simplification via transformational grammar is unique. An alternative result does not exist.
___This instance of apparent misrepresentation and character assassination has nothing to do with POV or any other horsepucky. Your argument, though fashionable, has been demonstrated to be without merit.
December 1, 2012 at 11:04 am
From News 5:
John Borland, Belize Coast Guard:
“We are a part of a joint security force that is operating in northern Ambergris Caye which includes the area where McAfee resides.”
December 1, 2012 at 11:00 am
Very good information! I had no idea about oranges being a good insect repellant.
December 1, 2012 at 10:46 am
read the end of the post : News Five has since received confirmation that a raid was in fact carried out at McAfee’s property, but it was done by the Belize Special Assignment Group (BSAG) of police. In related news, while McAfee has been in hiding, several of his associates have been arrested on firearm charges. One of them, British national William Mulligan, was granted bail of eight thousand dollars in the Supreme Court today. Mulligan’s wife, Syriana, was also remanded but she was previously released on bail since she is nursing a baby.
December 1, 2012 at 10:06 am
Hang in there John. I have farm in BZ and have been coming and going for 6 years. I’ve been attempted to help you in my own ways. Perhaps you know of me, perhaps not though I’m pulling for you and Oh Yes, I know exactly what you’re going through. I’ve been through much worse! Let me know how else I can help via email. If you find some citrus trees, peel the skin of the orange, lime, lemon and use the white inside part to rub on your face to keep the insects off and without stinging your face. Then squash the the peel in your hand and rub it all over any other exposed skin. It’s natural citrucella and will ward off ‘all’ insects. I know, as I do it everyday on the farm. You would be amazed how many locals don’t this considering there is so much citrus in the country. I’t also good for the skin. Try to drink coconut water every day as it will keep you healthy, vital and keep your woody in the upright when necessary. 🙂
December 1, 2012 at 9:29 am
Which other news reported William Mulligan released on bail?
December 1, 2012 at 9:23 am
http://edition.channel5belize.com/archives/79050
John was telling the truth but it seems it was the BSAG whoever they are as I have never heard of them but it was true Johns house was raided just like he said and I see no reason why they would take his belongings during the raid.
Also some other news reported that Mr Mulligan was released on bail which is great news.
December 1, 2012 at 3:08 am
The man is 67 years old and living undercover. Doesn’t have access to amenities we take for granted like hot showers and probably has not slept well. He mis-spoke on one thing in an hour long interview and that is what you choose to highlight?
Maybe you should go see if Josh Davis or Jeff Wise need a sidekick to write misinformaiton for them?
December 1, 2012 at 2:38 am
Josh Davis is not a real journalist, sorry. You were handing him a story that could have been worthy of a pulitzer. Of course Wired magazine does not usually cover politics and corruption unless it has to do with tech.
I am a long time reader of Wired magazine, I have many of the very first print ones, and it has gotten progressively worse in it’s content.
I finally went out and read the earlier stuff Jeff Wise wrote about you. Interesting how he was completely slid about your sobriety and now is pushing the drug angle. He also knows you are a prankster yet dismisses that too.
It’s kind of a shame the QuorumEx stuff didn’t go anywhere. It sounded like a good enterprise.
I find myself wishing I could meet you someday. Please stay alive so at least I can have that dream 🙂
December 1, 2012 at 2:24 am
The police themselves let the dogs loose, for the sole purpose, I believe, of getting the neighbors more pissed at me. Tiger would be the only one who would have stayed since he never leaves the property, open gate or not.
December 1, 2012 at 2:17 am
http://www.ambergristoday.com/content/stories/2012/july/11/dog-poisoning-has-dog-owners-upset
There are a lot of stray dogs and cats in Ambergrise. They ar in deplorable shape. They are poisoned as a method of control. Could it be that Tiger in the aftermath of the raid and confusion got out and found some poison in the neighbourhood? The neighbours said after the raid the dogs were loose.
December 1, 2012 at 1:08 am
I would agree… it is incompetent journalism or they are scared. Either way they lack integrity.
December 1, 2012 at 12:35 am
I did not say that the article was a “point of view”… I said a reader’s interpretation of the article will be biased by their own POV. If the reader’s POV is, “the article is against John”, then they would interpret it in that manner, whereas an objective reader would not.
How can you conclude that it was intentionally contrived? Do you work for them? Do you have any interaction with them at all? Or, are you simply guessing like so many others? Your gut tells you?
From an OBJECTIVE POV, “McAfee went into hiding soon after the murder on November eleventh of his neighbor Gregory Faull, who was found dead inside his house.” is nothing more than bad Grammar. There are 2 subjects in the sentence and the comma does imply that Greg was found in John’s house. But, once again we’re not dealing with the best of the English in Belize and we don’t know what the reporter was thinking when they wrote this. All we can do is look at how other similar statements are written by the Belezian people… and this would mean that Greg was found dead inside his house, not inside John’s house.
“Throw the cow over the fence some hay.” Are we talking about throwing hay over the fence or the cow over the fence?
December 1, 2012 at 12:14 am
Bill, you make conclusory statements about the deliberate structuring of the article to portray a John a liar, yet you can not possibly know this to be fact unless you wrote the article or are somehow involved the politics of the news organization. The article makes no conclusory statements. It simply states what each party has claimed, granted it does use a poor choice of verbs as it relates to John’s claims.
I personally look forward to seeing these “eye-witnesses” come tell their story on TV. This would definitely make a lot of people lose face.
I am in no way arguing that the raid did not happen.
November 30, 2012 at 11:52 pm
Chad,
Wow I can’t wait for the book. Your drawings are fantastic. Good job on the interview too.
November 30, 2012 at 11:48 pm
John,
Just watched the CNBC interview someone posted. Very good job. Plz check your email.
November 30, 2012 at 11:47 pm
I believe no one is being blocked. Try again.
November 30, 2012 at 11:24 pm

OOPS…I meant to say IF HE WAS GUILTY Sam would not remain with him…”IF” was left out…
November 30, 2012 at 6:45 pm
Just tried to post and it said I was duplicating something I had already said. I have not posted what I wrote just now, it’s all new, so I’m confused. Am I being blocked for some reason?
November 30, 2012 at 6:44 pm
I posted this on News 5 website blog because so many people are making snap judgements without doing the research and taking the time to read the enormous amount of proof you have that the GSU and Gov is against you and will stop at NOTHING…denying the raid yesterday even happened! Brutal…
Here is what I responded with to all the unfounded critics: Read the Blog and listen to the taped conversations…they are not full of lies and BS (except where he has said he will lie to throw the Powers-to-Be off his track…who wouldn’t?!)…you can hear the truth in the tone of the people being taped…they are after John and will stop at nothing..corruption is rampant there as it is in many and most 3rd world counties…To judge is to be judged…give the man his space to try and change a country and remain free to live out his life…the Truth ALWAYS comes out…if he is guilty, he will and should pay…if he is innocent, he should be allowed to prove that in a fair venue…I choose to believe he is innocent until proven guilty…BTW, unflattering posts are all over the Blog…so to say he filters them is most probably inaccurate…Sam knows the truth and my belief is that he was guilty, she would not remain with him because if he is guilty, the money is all gone…she could be living in his home right now in comfort…she chooses to stand by her man…think about it!
John, is Sam also “wanted” at this point in time for something other than assisting you in hiding? Continued Prayers!
November 30, 2012 at 6:44 pm
“malice” should be malicious
November 30, 2012 at 6:35 pm
8 raids should constitute harassment. They certainly are depriving you of the right to enjoy your property without being disturbed. There is also evidence of an concerted attempt at malice prosecution in this continuing saga.
Last summer when I accompanied a friend who was looking at real estate in Belize someone asked me if I was planning to move to Belize as well. I replied no way! There is far too much corruption here. I would snap and end up in jail! Now I am sure that would happen.
November 30, 2012 at 6:03 pm
wow. Nice job, John, using the GSU’s own ineptitude (and that of the press) to work against them to shed some light on their actions.
November 30, 2012 at 5:48 pm
After living in the Caribbean all my life, I can only say that John has become the archetypal image of the Caribbean’s most famous character. When I was a small child, we all were told stories about Anansi the spider, and how he constantly outwitted his foolish enemies. Anansi is the trickster, the coyote of the Native Americans, completely Caribbeanized and put into that context. John always has something up his sleeve and, like Anansi, I think he will win his battle against the bad elements in Belize. Every Belizean schoolchild knows who Anansi is, but now they are seeing a real life example of him right before their eyes.
November 30, 2012 at 5:28 pm
John, can someone provide pictures of the damage done? Or anyone passing by?
November 30, 2012 at 5:25 pm
If you have not realized it already, you cannot win this battle unless you find a way to legally remove the “dictator” from office. You can only hide and hope until the man at the top is gone. You need to make it happen. You are a smart guy, you can do it. Make it happen, don’t spend the rest of your life hiding. This battle needs to be won quickly so you both can enjoy your life. Playing games with the gsu is not accomplishing your goals. What would Ross Perot do in his early days if he was in the same situation? Kick some ass now, before you get caught. Don’t post my comments if there is a chance they may cause you harm. I want you to win this war.
November 30, 2012 at 5:22 pm
Thank you, John for your kind words. You have my email if there is anything you need. My group of friends have started an email campaign to all the names you have provided many times. We have been writing them for over a week now. No response other than the response from my canceling 5 hotel rooms I had set for Dec 26 through the 5th. I sent you the response the CEO of the hotel sent me. Will be following you throughout the day. God Bless to You and Sam.
November 30, 2012 at 5:12 pm
Thank you but we will get by. We have freinds who are helping us now. You are clearly among the “freinds”.
November 30, 2012 at 5:10 pm
John,
Can you disable the dates/ time(s) for the comments? I’m guessing your servers are somewhere in Europe because of the time stamp. Wouldn’t want your pursuers to narrow down your online movements.
Anyway, based on all that I have read on this blog, I think the council man &/ or his henchmen are involved with the killing of Mr. Faull to frame you.
What has become of him?
Don’t drop you guard. Stay safe & alert at all times. Also, be careful who knows your whereabouts. The wrong person could unwittingly let info loose.

November 30, 2012 at 5:04 pm
Ps. The card would not be in your name. Can get you cash too.
November 30, 2012 at 5:01 pm
Hi John and Sam, have they frozen your bank accounts? Can we help get you money? Maybe a debit card? Sam, you are a perfect example of a woman standing by her man. You are such a Blessing to John and we are praying for you both. Must have been very scary when your dad was detained yesterday. That was something to watch play out. Amazing the denial by “law enforcement”. Stay strong and stay deep. As much as we want pictures, don’t let that man if yours do it. The Truth shall set you free. Let me know about a card or cash money. Lots willing to help. From one who has been on the run. Did it for 2 years. IT SUCKS!!
November 30, 2012 at 4:55 pm
That made my day. She is so right and wise beyond her years. God bless both you and John hold on to her whatever you do. She is a true blessing.
November 30, 2012 at 4:53 pm
i had never responded or commented on a blog until “who is mcafee” began. with my last comment here i had to unlock the “puzzle” + ip server identified” Unusual???
November 30, 2012 at 4:53 pm
I do not know, but I fully suspect some did. We are trying to get all of the evidence today.
November 30, 2012 at 4:52 pm
If they weren’t there officially, then perhaps they were there to rob you. They are still looking for a safe with $4,000,000 cash in it.
November 30, 2012 at 4:51 pm
We thank you. Sam wnts to say something:
mam life is heard for everyone but once you have the ones you love, life and streagh you can had nothing but with that you have everything thank you for you pray and soppert i am thankful an i hope you have a great time and life with much love sam best of wishes.
November 30, 2012 at 4:49 pm
If you were able to get your tourboat loaded with tourists to leave 1 hour early, how come you only had 10 minutes notice to get your Captain a camera?
November 30, 2012 at 4:41 pm
And I thought my struggle as a single parent to buy Christmas gifts was major….following this blog has given me some perspective on what really matters; freedom, human rights, and the love of a good partner. Keep Sam & your Vick’s tight. You, Sam, your imprisoned friends, and mostly the people of Belize are in my continued prayers.
November 30, 2012 at 4:39 pm
My apologies. In the case of Belize you are correct. The press cannot publish the truth here as you so aptly point out. I meant no offense to the Belizean press.
November 30, 2012 at 4:38 pm
John,
PLEASE take yourself and Sam away from the danger before its too late. Please!
November 30, 2012 at 4:37 pm
Did any of the tourists onboard take any pictures?
November 30, 2012 at 4:28 pm
My cameras were all stolen – I believe by my security guards – almost six weeks ago. They have not been replaced. I could not get a camera dilivered in time to the boat captain who took the boatload of tourists by my property – I had less than 10 minutes warning about the impending raid. Audio interviews is all I will be able deliver. My apologies.
November 30, 2012 at 4:26 pm
It is time for much more technology and surveillance. Do it now. Plan ahead much more. than you did in the past. You need evidence to protect yourself from everything. Don’t post this comment, I don’t want more problems for you, I am trying to help. You are a smart guy, when the trap is closing you don’t just sit there and wait. Kick some ass.
November 30, 2012 at 4:25 pm
Sam is here with me reading these comments with tears in her eyes. She is not often moved like this. We thank you.
November 30, 2012 at 4:24 pm
Agree with Tom, the best defense is a strong offense. How about a website displaying pictures of the offending officers/officials along with descriptions their misdeeds. Optimize the hell out of it. Could be a useful bargaining tool as well as an insurance policy for the future.

John,
I’m a big believer in you but pictures of the raid would be really good to see. Were you able to get any other proof besides stories of those connected to you. Also, remember I’m here on the island in case you need anything.

I understand that clearly my friend. Believe me, I do. But even people who love their homes leave from time to time. New Mexico. Colorado. Just try to remember the texture of that air. That was all I was trying to apply. My home is in Maine. I love it here. But I leave from time to time.
November 30, 2012 at 3:53 pm
John,
It is time to go on the offensive. Offer a reward for evidence leading to the conviction of corrupt police and government officials. Do it now, whether or not the police and government officials will ever be prosecuted is not important. You will have much more support from the locals and the officials will have much less. Kick some ass.

The idea was not to prove my point, which, even now, seems amply proved. This is my home now.
November 30, 2012 at 3:36 pm
John-
I so admire your fortitude and resilience, yet please my friend, the time has come to flee that scorpion invested land. Do you not have fond memories of the fresh New Mexico and Colorado mountain air? Please try my friend. You don’t have to stay down there anymore….I’ve read your blog, but .you’ve had your fun… you’ve proved your point…..bring Sam. We would all like to meet her. ‘Tis not too late to seek a better world….

Is it incompetent “third-world journalism” as you seem so quick to judge, or is it that journalists in Belize do not have the freedom to practice journalism as the profession demands without fear of reprisals from the government?

It had in fact occurred to me that Josh was far more subtle than he appeared and that the entire “naiive reporter” personna was an act. His avowed friendship would then be displayed as he set everything up for my blog to go viral. He would show himself to the world to be a loyal friend and his ratings would skyrocket. Sadly, I don’t think this was the case. I believe he truly is naiive and that he is out to make a name for himself in the “classical news” style. I don’t know what he will do now that it is becoming clear that the entire Wired article was an unconscious fabrication.

It’s not just a “point of view”. It is all intentionally contrived. Re-read the line “McAfee went into hiding soon after the murder on November eleventh of his neighbor Gregory Faull, who was found dead inside his house.” This was intended to mislead and have it seem like Mr. Faull was found in McAfee’s house which he was definitely not.

John, you should feel sorry for the GSU as they are outmatched by someone with brains..
Maybe make up a joking guide for GSU in how to hide planted evidence or at least get better at it..I am kidding..no do not do that
But since the GSU is not brain equipped it means that sooner or later Military will get involved. Stay deep and safe John..

Nice.
It actually occurred to me that Josh was on your team and his “hit” like pieces were the fuel to get you the media attention necessary to give you a voice in which to highlight your plight.
The idea that Josh simply stepped into a complex environment without proper tools seems equally plausible.
His retelling of an event at your property(on the website Reddit) when the generator went out prompting you and your security team to go into planned reaction shows that you were not just sitting around weaving paranoid tales. Again, as you stated, he must have given too much credence to the Belize “Authorities” in an attempt to balance his piece
and that in itself would be a matter of being ill equipped.
On another note, I think that your active security that you were utilizing at the time of your neighbors unfortunate demise sheds further light on the precautionary measures that you had in place. Mulligan, your security man and friend was a professional who had prior worked for what I assume was the British embassy running security and has an extensive security and military background. First, the fact that he came on board says a lot right there. He must of known that you weren’t some drug addled nut that he would have to babysit. Who would want such a contract?
Second, why or how would a professional of that caliber allow or submit to something as reckless as a hit on one’s neighbor.
I believe you have been under duress and threat for some time and luckily when they finally struck it does appear that you were prepared. Unfortunately they did get your friends….
Every step the Belize “Authorities” take further builds your credibility in the public light.
Every turn seems to lead towards vindication.

John were you tipped off that this raid was going to take place?
November 30, 2012 at 11:10 am
are you kidding? We have one eye-witness report and will likely get several more tomorrow all reporting that GSU agents raided the property escorted by the coast guard and the local police. In the article it states that the police press officer and the head of the GSU state that no raid took place. The article is deliberately structure to portray John as a crazy liar. Anyone with a pair of eyeballs can see the flat out chicanery going on here.
November 30, 2012 at 10:57 am
Yes i agree, If you take that quote in context it’s clear he meant the opposite
November 30, 2012 at 10:14 am
I am confused why you say, “Hi Channel 5 Belize says that John Mcafee is a liar.”
I have analyzed the article extensively and it would seem the interpretation of certain phrases used would be based on your point of view (POV).
The heading is a question, “Who raided McAfee’s property today?” From an objective POV, this could be a valid question… if not the GSU, then who?
They use phrases like, “According to McAfee”, “He says”, “McAfee rants”, and “He went as far as to accuse”. These are very common ways for a reporter to avoid making conclusory statements. From a biased POV one could assume they are suggesting he is not truthful but from an objective POV, these are ways to report uncorroborated statements. The only phrase that remotely to implies John is not being truthful might be, “McAfee rants”.
Nowhere in the article do they say, “John McAfee is a liar”.
I do believe the article could have been better written and they could have done more research before publishing, but we must remember this is a third world country and we are not dealing with Pulitzer reporting.

The more actions the government take against you, the worse they look to the world who is watching. Any person with intelligence can see what they are up to, and the idioits are helping to document the charge of corruption against themselves. You are a genius, John, and fantastic timing of the water taxi. Very smart. Continued wishes for the safety of Sam and yourself.

John, dear sir, I fear for your life… the net is closing please do not get caught
The world needs more charming, gentlemen like you, not less.

John
So the Keystone Cops turned up and made monkies of themselves.
Your taunting them with this blog will only ensure they revenge their anger on you or your friends.
For your sake and your friends, let the blog go and get out, I suspect if they do catch you, you may never draw another breath.
By the way, what happened to your ‘Disgiuse’ page, seems to have vanished.
Cheers

I heard this too… John did in fact say exactly this, but if you listen to what he says directly before and directly after, it is clear that he mis-spoke in describing his choice and did not intend to give the impression that he would be better off actually writing viruses. JohnBelushi, you are obviously trying to mislead people or simply inept.
