OK, I'm begging now, even though I tell the kids not to do so.

Anyone have access to four desktop computers? I have an LA address to send them to and they will be put to very good use here in Belize. I will pay shipping. I will accommodate whoever provides with a week's free stay on the coast of Belize, provided they give me ample warning, at the house that is located closest to the sea in all of Corozal Bay. I have kayaks and sea toys also. As far as a vehicle, not needed, but they are on their own for that. They can borrow a bike or ride with me on the bus.

All of these people speaking in this blog, any takers out there?

Tracker, do you know of alison.com? Please spread the word once you visit. I've been pounding the keyboard, looking for a place to get four desktops to host a learning center in our library. We have two broke down dinosaurs right now and one working laptop. It will come in time. Meanwhile, we learn to play music and tonight, animation of drawings from our students. Everything has a season.

So sad you would never come back, Connie. This is a beautiful country and giving "a drop" is commonplace. I must admit, I would have never done that in the States, after having some bad experiences as a teenager with mentally ill people .
When I drive, I always give "a drop". It's respect and I meet so many beautiful people that way. I do not stop if they are carrying a beer or rum bottle. I always stop for children with their parents.

Andy Palacio's song, Watina, expresses this sentiment in detail.

I am sorry for your bad experience.

Dangriga: "The Sparkling City In the Emerald Valley." There is a Scott who self published a book on Dangriga that you should read.

I love Hopkins and Cayo. I could never live there as I would be a perpetual tourist getting hailed (like in PDC, MX), but I do visit often.

Taking the bus is not out of necessity. It's socializing, kind of like going to the beach in the afternoons.

Hope you change your mind and revisit. No need for a vehicle, just hike out of the airport and catch the bus at the "T"

Most recent news on Jeffrey Furgula......
The Canadian Consulate is working with the family who is in Belize. They do not believe the story provided by the police, and are looking for answers. They have brought the CBC ( Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ), one of the oldest and most respected networks in Canada, to help them. They can be relentless, and will find some answers for his family. They may even uncover some stuff they'll wish they hadn't.
I implore anyone in Belize who knows anything about this suspicious death, or Jeffrey's movements that day to find the CBC, or contact the Canadian Consulate to tell them everything. The Belizean authorities will do nothing productive with any information they get, and it may even be detrimental to the teller. (IMO)
Having known quite a few diversely different Canadians for many years, I wasn't surprised to hear my thoughts on this situation echoed by one who said this:

@sickntired is correct. Not only that but many of my friends have stopped coming to Belize, and Mexico as well, because of all the bad publicity. I don’t think the GOB or the Police have grasped the power of the internet yet. Canadians won’t complain much, they’ll just go somewhere else, which is why Cuba’s tourist industry is booming. Cuba is one of the safest countries in the region and right now is FULL of Canadian and European tourists. If Belize wants to keep it’s tourism industry healthy, these kinds of incidents must stop.
This man was taken into custody by the police and in their care and control and therefore they had a responsibility for his well being, whether he was drunk or not.**
Other comments of disgust can be found accompanying the news stories.
As long as the family contends the 'wicked drunk' aspect, there is going to be lingering doubt that WILL result in a shift of Canadian cash away from Belize. If the truth about what happened doesn't come out, could the new partnership between Belize and Canada regarding the 'drug war' be short lived?
And who will lose once again? The Belizean people. ಥ_ಥ

Seems like Belize is a place where you can take a vacation and have a great time, however going there to live doesn,t seem like a good idea. Latest casualty is a canadian who died in police custody, police say he was intocicated ,fell down and died, people who know him don,t belive it . Most people today looking for information on countries search the internet, Belize is getting so much bad press lately this will cause people to go elsewhere.Unfortunately short of a revolution in the short term nothing is going to change. Why is it that the worst people are in charge everywhere, change is coming, like a hurricane, everywhere.
