PS: Just for the record: My family members worked and lived on the island for decades and held positions in all economic tiers, from restaurant and hotel industry work, to medical care and even holding positions in middle-level government. I was in business with my husband and negotiated contracts with top government officials (LT.Governer) and dealt with local politicians, business, local and Int’l. As a college professor who now teaches ethics, I often use my experiences and those of my family and friends as case studies n the classroom and my students are shocked and horrified with every tale I tell.

I am on the level and very sympathetic.

John:
I have just visited your website for the first time in response to seeing you on CNN this morning. I am appalled, angry, and deeply disturbed by your situation, albeit not surprised by the country’s systemic corruption, racism, discrimination, and flagrant disregard for and broad-based rejection of any level accountability and demand for the truth – period.

My family lived in the USVI on the island of St. Thomas beginning in 1971 until my grandmother’s death in 1995. During that time I personally witnessed over those decades a gross moral and ethical decline that mirrors Belize’s todays reality which of course was in large part a response to the increase in tourism to the island and the influx of American capitalistic markets creating a society of once peaceful and happy people to one that was driven by greed; and divided by a new class system: the haves and the have-nots.

Despite tourisms ugliness it’s not the only marker of the island’s moral and ethical descent. Islands are magnets to criminals and others who wish to hide from the law or escape from societal obligations that decent people live by easily. I saw firsthand the ease in which these sort moved in and among the rich and famous which included top government officials and the well respected families of the island. Like celebrities almost, their recklessness was like a drug to others, their tales entertaining and their pedigree or lack thereof intoxicating to many, thus creating a culture of immorality and lawlessness that pervaded every aspect of life and a society bereft of any code of honor, ethics, a community without a moral compass.

I left after my grandmother’s in ’95, as did most all my family, but for me it was for one primary reason – I found myself turning into someone I didn’t want to become as a way of self-preservation and I was afraid that if I did not leave then I would become one of them, I left because I was afraid. I never returned. I never looked back. I often wonder how I lived like that, meaning with blinders on for so long. My family used to joke that the worst crime to commit on ST. Thomas was DWW. Driving While White, Ha! I could tell you stories….

I wish you well, I wish for you swift and restorative justice. I wish my wish had an iota of possibility…. I will do one thing that I know has possibilities, I will pray for you and I will continue to do so until I know of another means of support that I can give you. If there is something I can do for you all you have to do is ask.

The bathsalts picture on the drug forum are on the same countertop as shown in the other pics of your home. They are sorted and held together with plastic bands. This makes no sense if it’s all a joke/hoax.

Also, the realtor has posted a credible response to your claim as to what happened when he found you on his balcony. His wife found the baggie with the grey powder later in the planter. (Posted on the Balize forum)

I’m convinced you used bathsalts but I don’t really care and it certainly doesn’t make you a murderer.

John, why did you not have a guard or care taker..shoot the dogs? Can’t imagine shooting my own dogs even to put them out of there misery.. Just a question that keeps running through my mind, so I thought I would ask.

I was just going back to change it to “hundreds” when I saw your comment & you are correct. I get tired & sometimes misstate. My point is, were you aware that 16,500 people died in America in one year before you googled those statistics? I wasn’t & I’d bet that 99% of the people were not & are not. We are only made aware of the sensational, the mysterious, & the newsworthy. Unfortunately, the rest become just that, statistics. But that still begs the question, why are we not demanding that our police do something about it? Why are we not rising up to demand new police chiefs & better investigations, more transparency & better results from the CIA, the FBI, & the DEA? We have our own mess to clean up & the “War on Drugs” has been a colossal failure, costing billions of dollars with no decrease in the massive influx of drugs into this country & the demand for them, highest demand for drugs in the world. This is what is affecting entire countries, including Mexico, and most of Central & South America. And this is our responsibility & so far, I see the problem getting worse. So, just maybe we need to look at the role we play in this global epidemic, which is enormous, before condemning others. After all, our demand for illegal drugs is #1 in the world & THAT is feeding violence, murders, assassinations, kidnappings, corruption, & the breakdowns of governments. And that is on US.

John has said that he will agree to go back to leading his everyday life, devoid of any controversy, if his 3 friends are released, apologies are made, & one man steps down as head of the GSU. And you honestly believe that this will just magically “straighten out this mess that is in Belize today”? Removing leaders & shuffling positions will achieve nothing. Responsibility lies with the people of Belize to make their wants & needs known & to demand a change. Change comes through participation, as I’ve mentioned before, but it is not for those of us who are not Belizeans, to condemn a system of government that is not our own. I think the world has had enough of the U.S. imposing & forcing our way of life onto them. I don’t know, this is like beating a dead horse. The government of Belize is not going to be strong armed by one man, especially one who is not even a citizen of Belize & is also wanted for questioning in a murder, so the entire point is moot.

Annette, for anyone reading your comment, I feel compelled to correct your misstated “facts”. In 2008. there were a TOTAL of 16,500 murders (+/-) in the US….that would be less than 320 per week for the entire country. Don’t misunderstand….that’s 16,500 per YEAR too many, but a far cry from your ” & thousands of murders every week “. Interestingly enough, that number reportedly dropped to under 15,000 for 2010. Personally I’m not sure if that is truly reflective, or a case of police under reporting ~ a common practice regarding smaller offences in order to look better in the public eye ~ but the ‘sunshine out my ass’ side of me wants to believe it. I don’t know anyone who perceives any death as unimportant or pays no attention because the country is large, and divided into states. ???
That’s just silly. So, lets make things clear. The murder rate in the US is .00005 % (16,500 divided by 311 million) or less, which puts them at #24 on the world list. Now, let’s look at the stats for #6 on that same list….you guessed it, Belize. In 2010 there were 129 murders…..in a country with less than 357,000 people, making the murder rate .0004 %. To make it even easier to compare, that would mean the US would have needed about 112,230 murders that year to be even with Belize. 95,730 MORE MURDERS. Per Year. Perhaps you might want to do some fact checking before offering up information that is misleading and untrue. Check out this site for some good info on Belize such as this little blurb….
[The majority of crimes are “property” crimes such as robbery, theft, burglary, muggings, and pick-pocketing. In 2011, Belize experienced a reported increase in rapes, burglaries, and regular thefts. However, there was a decrease in reported robberies. Often decreases are attributed to simply a lack of reporting of these crimes.]

I don’t deny America has it’s fair share of problems, but to compare it to Belize is laughable. My suggestion is to find a local charity or youth group and try to do something positive to help the problems in the US instead of taking falsified pot shots at it. Change is made when people insist upon it and make it happen through their actions, but never through their complaining.

Faull was killed with a single rear head-shot on a rainy Friday night between 10 pm and 7 am Sat, Nov 11th, and in the top floor hallway with no sign of forced entry and a missing laptop and Iphone. A single Luger 9mm shell casing was found on the first stair leading to the top floor, however only ballistics will determine the slug-size that killed Faull which stopped in his head or passed through to lodge in a wall.
Mcaffe says he killed his dogs with a .38 revolver and shotgun. Unless McAfee became irrational, which doesn’t seem possible unless he had taken drugs, he would not have shot Faull as he would have known he would have been the prime suspect.
If Faull planned to poison the dogs he would not have talked with neighbours, submittted a complaint, and then poisoned them with something like strychnine-laced meat thrown over the fence, for he’d have known he would have been the prime suspect.
If ballistics prove McAfee’s guns did not kill Faull, he may have been a robbery victim. It’s also possible the poisoning and 2-day-later murder was a set-up to frame McAfee.
On the murder-night, was Faull alone in his house, what is your alabi between 10 pm Fri and 7 am Sat, and how many witnesses can testify your location?
