PORTLAND, Ore. — John McAfee slides out suddenly from behind a glass door.

It’s a sun-splashed morning in the eclectic neighborhood where he now lives, and the  former software mogul-turned-international fugitive needs a caffeine fix. Now.

“I have some stories and things to tell you, sir,” he says, rapping his right hand against a coffee table while nervously shifting his feet. “Do you have time for the truth?”

In his first extensive interview since he returned to U.S. soil in December, an animated McAfee agreed to meet a USA TODAY reporter at a nondescript apartment building in southeast Portland last week. For four hours, he explained his innocence, engaged in self-deprecation and eviscerated the news media for what he called exploitation.

“People ask me how did it feel to kill a man, and I can honestly tell them I wouldn’t know because I never have,” he says, gazing through piercing green eyes. McAfee is wearing a black hoodie, jeans and flip flops.

I was sent a link to a video this morning put out by the “Jasmine Alert”, the Facebook page –  dedicated to finding justice for Jasmine Lowe, a 13 year old girl killed in Belize on June 3rd of this year.  This simple video has done a greater job of summing up the conditions of life in Belize than all of the 4 million words within this blog.  I am shamed.  Please, everyone view this:

They asked for an end to my “Boycott Belize” campaign, and I have ended it in it’s current form.  I have asked the people who manage my blog to instead implement a “See the truth” page.

I am now urging potential visitors to Belize to abandon the usual “five star resort on San Pedro” package, where your dollars go into foreign bank accounts of the resort owners, and instead, take your cameras and your tourist dollars to the interior.  Stay at a local bed and breakfast for a few dollars.  See the intense poverty and oppression.  Talk to the people.  Spend your dollars where the money will stay in Belize and where the local people will benefit.  Come home.  Tell the world.

In order to understand Mr. McAfee’s actions regarding the Coast Guard, the Police and the GSU, you will first have to understand his perspective. I want to take a break from the events happening directly to Mr. McAfee, to the larger issue of Government corruption in Belize:

Mr. McAfee has consistently been ridiculed in the press because he insists that the Government is lying and that they may kill him if he is apprehended. Keep in mind that Mr. McAfee has created this blog, the sole purpose of which is to expose corruption within the Belizean Government and has posted more than 60 posts laying out his beliefs. In addition, the blog is highly successful and has created enormous PR problems for the Government. 70% of all employees in Belize depend on tourism for their salaries, so public perception is key to the survival of the economy. If the Government of Belize was perceived in the public eye to be corrupt as a result of this blog, and if in fact the Government is corrupt, then it would not be unexpected for them to punish Mr. McAfee severely for this huge offense.

We should first ask whether the Government would tell a lie about Mr. McAfee. When he tells the press that the Government does lie about him, he is ridiculed.

I would like to provide one key example out of many, in which the Government has lied about what it is doing in regards to Mr. McAfee:

On November 29th, the Police raided Mr. McAfee’s property in San Pedro. Fifteen heavily armed officers, some wearing the traditional GSU black uniform with face masks, broke in, spent two hours searching the 11 buildings on his site, took over a half million dollars worth of property and lefrt. While they were there, they locked up and terrorized the housekeeper, and threatened Samantha’s father with torture. When Mr. McAfee reported the raid here on this blog, the government denied any involvement. This is Channel Five’s report:

“Both the police press officer and the head of the GSU say that there was no search at McAfee’s property and that in fact, the unit was not even in San Pedro today.”

Normally in Belize, this is where it would end. Mr. McAfee, however had arranged witnesses to the event (17 American tourists in one of his boats) and, in spite of the usual “If you talk we will kill you” threats that the GSU uses, Samantha’s father, Nestor, talked on the phone with Chad and told his story:

“News Five has since received confirmation from the Government that a raid was in fact carried out at McAfee’s property”

So certainly, the Government has lied about its activities regarding Mr. McAfee. There are many more incidences, equally as astonishing, that we will be revealing.

The next question is: Is the Government of Belize Corrupt?

Freedomhouse has this to say:

Government corruption remains a serious problem. Belize is the only country in Central America that is not a party to the UN Convention against Corruption.

In September, the government brokered a truce among rival gangs in response to complaints made by residents and alleged gang members of police brutality by the Gang Suppression Unit. Extrajudicial killings (State sanctions murders) and the use of excessive force remain concerns.

Belize was added to the U.S. list of “major” drug producing and transit countries in 2011 because of large numbers of drugs and weapons seized along its border with Mexico and weak anticorruption measures. According to the International Center for Prison Studies, Belize has the world’s 9th-highest prisoner-to-public ratio, with about 439 inmates per 100,000 inhabitants. Prisons do not meet minimum international standards.

Belize is a source, transit, and destination country for women and children trafficked for prostitution and forced labor. The majority of trafficked women are from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The trafficking of workers from South Asia and China for forced labor has also been uncovered in recent years.

In addition to the Freedomhouse Study, Transparency International, the international organization that champions honesty and shames countries for being dishonest, Ranks Belize near the bottom. On a scale where ten is clean and zero is considered 100% corrupt, Belize is given a score of 2. Channel Five broadcast the report:

Finally, The Heritage Organization, which closely monitors corruption within Governments said:

So it seems that without any additional documentation from Mr. McAfee, Belize is clearly a corrupt country.

But would The Government of Belize kill someone who is a problem for the Government?

Extrajudicial (State Sanctioned) killings were listed by Freedomhouse, above, as one of the problems in Belize. The following news reports from just a few months ago demonstrate how they are carried out:

The Police’s explained that while transporting Arthur Young (a man only wanted for questiong) in the back of a Police pickup truck, he attempted to take away a Police Officer’s weapon. He did this while he was handcuffed (hands behind his back) and even though he was guarded by multiple armed officers. Police say that during the struggle, the gun went off and Young was shot fatally.

As an indication that the police routinely carry out state sanctioned murders, The Commissioner of Police, David Henderson, was asked whether or not the killing was state sanctioned:

David Henderson
“I will not speculate.”

If state-sponsored murder was never happening, the Commissioner would not have to “speculate”.  He would simply say – “Of course not.”

Now, in spite of these overwhelming facts – The Government lies about it is Doing to Mr. McAfee, it is obviously corrupt and it obviously murders people who are in the way – the press still responds incredulous when Mr. McAfee says “I have seriously pissed them off with my blog and my speaking out against them. I think they may kill me”.

Which one is crazy: The press, or Mr. McAfee?

Any rationaal human would believe the same as Mr. McAfee. In a Country where you can be sent to prison for questioning a Ministers finances, what do you think the Government would do to someone who published a blog such as this?

On June 17 of 2012, John was introduced to a young woman named Marcia Novello:

Marcia was introduced to John by Marcia’s uncle Pazus Novello:

John truly believes by the way, that Pazus had nothing to do with the events disclosed in this and subsequent posts.  (If there are any real journlists left in the world, both Marcia and Pazus can be found in Orange Walk.  Pazus owns Lover’s Bar downtown)

John became close to Marcia, and on June 27th, a week and a half after the introduction, Marcia moved in with John. Shortly after moving in, John became suspicious of foul play. He began recording her phone conversations, and he gained access to her facebook account, through which the majority of her communications took place. At a certain point, Marcia became aware of the phone recordings, but not the facebook access.  The following conversation occured on July 16th between Marcia and a coast guard employee named Manndo Koy.

The conversation is in Creole, but the meaning is clear. I do not have access to a Creole speaking person at the moment, but I am working on it.

Marcia and Koy met frequently at an island resort named Captain Morgan’s, both before and after this exchange of messages. It was at this point that Mr McAfee knew that Marcia was involved in a plot that involved, if not the government, then certainly an employee of the armed forces.  Marcia gave frequent updates to her co-conspiritors about Mr. McAfee’s whereabouts, plans and other critical information

I am reposting an older post of Mr. McAfee’s and have added additional data from the files as supporting evidence.  I am doing this because I feel it is necessary to dispel certain pre-disposed attitudes in the mind of the press and the public before a proper understanding of events can occur.

The Government has portrayed Mr. Mcafee as paranoid.  So has the press.  “Why armed guards?” is the government’s question.  “What on earth does he have to be afraid of.  Belize is a safe country and no-one needs to be afraid of anything”. ” Mr. McAfee is bonkers”, declared the Prime Minister.  Mr. McAfee has declared otherwise. You must decide, in this first series of posts , where the truth lies.  The previous post gave evidence of danger on the mainland.  This one will give evidence of danger on the island of San Pedro, where Mr. McAfee also has residences.

Approximately two months ago Mr. McAfee left his house, by boat, to go spend the night at his condo (Ocean Aire) about four miles south of his primary residence. He frequently changed his location because he felt threatened and believed it was safer if few people knew his whereabouts.  As he was leaving Mr. McAfee watched one of his security guards on the dock take out his phone and make a call while watching Mr. McAfee’s departure intently.  He became suspicious.  Instead of going directly to the condo, Mr. McAfee hung out in the boat at sea for an hour or so and then went to the condo.  When he arrived the security guard at the condo came immediately to the boat in an nervous fashion and told Mr. McAfee that a creole man in a golf cart had arrived about an hour earlier and demanded to talk to Mr. McAfee.  When the guard said that he was not home, the man became agitated.  He insisted that Mr. McAfee was really home and demanded to see for himself.  It was only the intervention of the neighbor living below Mr. McAfee - Keith and Barbara Hoffman -  that convinced the man to leave.

The following day Mr. McAfee received an email from the neighbors downstairs.  They had awoken to find a letter under their door.  This is the email:

John

There was a letter on our door this morning that I think needs your attention it’s very threatening, I know know why you have security! It’s from Swan? At the least I think you should let the police know! He wants money…Please advise what you want to do.   xxx xxxx (Phone number blanked out)

Mr. McAfee did not go to the police for reasons tht will become clear in my subsequent posts.  He instead hired a private investigator.  Mr. McAfee and the investigator went and spoke with the Hoffmanss, who seemed genuinely afraid.  The investigator calmed them somewhat and then immediately went to Mr. McAfee’s primary residence.  He held a meeting with every employee and every guard.  He took mug shots of them, copied their IDs, and then made them all copy the letter in their own handwriting:

Mr. McAfee also submitted a sample of his own handwriting for the records.  There were no matches found.

Mr. McAfee immediately fired the security guard who had intently watched him leave the dock.  Mr. McAfee believed that the guard was in collusion with the creole man who arrived at the condo expecting Mr. McAfee to have been home.  Mr. McAfee’s hour wait in the boat before arrival prevented the creole man from meeting him, he believed.

This event occurred two weeks before the attempted raid on Mr. McAfee’s home that was detailed in Mr. McAfee’s post “The Raid of October 15th“.  I will be reposting that report as well, and I will include supporting documentation.  My next post, in a few hours, will begin the much longer series of events that began with Mr. McAfee’s introduction to a young woman named Marcia Novello.  All the evidence in this first series of posts is to point ot the absurdity of everyone’s claim that Mr. McAfee is paranoid.  The evidence should clearly show that anyone in similar circumstances would have behaved the same.

Birth of the Anthony Rayburn tapes

Two weeks before the last Belizean elections John was approached by Anthony Rayburn a leader in Carmelita village (the village where Mr. Mcafee had his residence)  who for many years had worked for a local Politician by the name of Landy burns, Mr. Rayburn asked for a donation for Mr. Burns campaign in the amount of two million dollars, in return Mr Rayburn’s assurance on the future political favors would be more than the donations…

JOHN REFUSED …

Shortly after the elections Mr Raeburn approached Mr McAfee for a job, and Mr McAfee gave him a position as a security guard. Mr McAfee later learned that Mr Rayburn was in fact working as an informant to Mr Landy Burns and Mr McAfee fired him on April 16 2012, two weeks later on April 30 2012 Johns property was raided by the GSU (Gang suppression unit), John later discovered that Mr. Rayburn had been working with the GSU prior to the raid, to help plan the raid.. After the raid John learned Rayburn was still working with the GSU in order to help them setup John for another arrest. Within days, John had arranged to tape a few conversations between Rayburn and another village resident by the name of  Luc Bull whose nickname is JUNI. The first conversation was held on May 14 2012 and the second on May 17 2012, the following are the audio tapes of the conversations in Creole followed by the English text. You should be able to understand much of the audio, even without translation.
