Hello! I’ve been reading your weblog for a while now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Porter Tx! Just wanted to mention keep up the great job!
Hang in there John. Ignore all these fools who post that have no idea what it is like in Belize. I own a home about 500′ down the beach from yours in San Pedro ( I was scammed on my house by the realtor too thus the reason I still own it). I have not been there for several years. I can say that everything John says about the corruption in Belize is absolutely true! I came for the same reasons you did and left less than a year later in absolute disgust and swore I would never return. Its a shame too because it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I had a helicopter there and we flew all over the country and explored many of the hundreds of islands. However it was a non-stop scam of bribes and bullshit everywhere we went. If the police think you have money they will do anything to get it. I would never in a million years cooperate with any investigation especially if I was innocent. I would give up on the place John there are other places you will find to be much more hospitable. I especially like Costa Rica and Northern Panama. Good luck and email me if I can do anything for you. I don’t really have many connections in Belize anymore but I have a ton in Costa Rica, Panama, and Columbia. [email protected]
Well, martyrs abound, though they do not normally achieve martyrdom without a following; Having visited many of the Islands, the corruption there is rampant and anyone that knows this moves there with that knowledge. The drugged out vacant stares. the hustling, and the outright hatred from one who has none to the one that has a $20 bill is disturbing. I have experienced this first-hand and chose not to go to the Islands where I was hated simply because I was “white” (I’m actually Cherokee, Irish, Swedish and English) but who cares-I’m the Melting Pot. Seems the Pot there is boiling with resentment. I do admire your FUTILE quest to expose corruption there… but having seen the Islands first-hand, you have done enough there now-why not move to Africa and work on female genitila exorcism or on to Bagledesh with the acid in the face movement? I am telling you. Sir, that there is enough misery in this life -why not do something that will actually have immediate relief for those less fortunate than you? No one person can save a cause, but one person can save another, and that is the BEST we can do here and now..
