from Mexico John,
Ken Smith has a website for people who chose to become expatrtiates and leave America. He talks about how people who leave the US can become good will ambassadors for the US. Here's a nice little story about Belize written by my pal, Joe Bageant (who at one time called me one of his people, but a stubborn one. That's sort of an inside joke between me and Joe, but I think Joe made an excellent good will ambassador for America. He was full of Noam Chomsky style ideology, not necessarily a bad place to be in my opinion.

But in the spirit of keeping this blog alive and well and still serving a functional purpose, I propose the following question for you to help us understand you and your reasons for keeping this blog active.

What would you have done differently if you knew all that you know now and were making the decision to become an expatriot again today. What would you have done differently and would you change anything in regards to how things turned out for you in Belize so far.

I do think Joe would have approved of your appeal to Americans who travel to Belize to help the local people and not the big name ritzy schmitzy sector of Belize, although Joe had his own problems staying in Belize and ultimately decided to leave. I don't think he ever wrote about exactly why he left Belize but he hinted at it in one of his later essays before he ultimately returned to the US to come home to die with his family around him. But here is one of his essays on Belize.

http://kvsmith.com/?p=850

You can find more of his essays online.

No one would force you to look back on your past experiences and explain what you would have done differently, but perhaps others who feel the need to "get away" from America might indeed find your thoughts on this subject enlightening. And by looking at what happened to you in Belize, perhaps it would offer us more insight into "Who is McAfee".

I'm not a believer in the theory that you killed the neighbor because I'm sure you would have no need to have the stolen computer and handheld device that I think I believe I read were taken in regards to Mr. Faull.

Incidentally, I think you should up the reward for the person who can help prosecute the murderer. But it's your money and you certainly do with it as you wish. For all I know, you could well be dead broke. But if you are as wealthy as reported in some places, $25,000 seems like a paltry figure to offer for someone who could clear your name and help the Belizean people to get a murderer off the street. On the other hand, rewards can often bring out the cranks and con-men, so perhaps a reward isn't a good idea. What do you think? )

Yes, Graceland is in Memphis, in west Tennessee. I live in east Tennessee in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains; about a 9 hour drive from Memphis.

East Tennessee is so beautiful and the people are so friendly and kind.

I'm so sorry the legal aid in Vermont isn't very good.

To deprive you of seeing your own son, and to deprive the two brothers from being together is cruel. You must be strong to have endured this tragedy.

The legal aid in central Vermont is terrible. If you are poor enough to need them they consider you to be mentally ill and I think they intentionally try to drive you insane. There is a state hospital conveniently located two towns away. I went to college in Arizona.

Jessica, there's a wonderful organization here in Tennessee called the Legal Aid Society. The attorneys with Legal Aid are some of the best, and have taken on high profile $350 an hour attorneys and won. They represent mothers like you for free if you are low income.

Check this out in Vermont and you may have such an organization there.

The Legal Aid Society is wonderful.

...and btw, the newspaper in question (Daily Mail UK) has got to be, IMHO. the most biased, incompetent, judgemental, whining rag of a newspaper I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.

Politically and socially speaking, it represents the antithesis of (at least the outward appearance of) John's perspective on life.

It is the epitome of crap when it comes to MSM.

John, Sam, Chad, hope you are all happy, safe and healthy.
Best wishes as always.
