“For eight years I was the common law of Mr. Mark Vidal. And we have three children—a ten year old, a nine year old, and a seven year old girl. We’ve been separated for some years now. From the beginning of the separation, the children were living with me then he took them away from me. When we separated, Vidal told me that I could stay in the house for the first month or so because we were renting. Then I would have to find a way to pay my own bills because he would not do it. So, because of that I had no job. I had to look for a job leaving my children in the care of my mother. For the time being that they were with my mother, I was off and on visiting with them; helping my mother financially and he was too. Then I applied for custody and so did he. Then he came up to me and spoke to me and asked me not to show up to the next hearing because it was foolish for us to be fighting over them. So I accepted that. We did not sign anything. I did not show up for the hearing and neither did he. And it worked out for the beginning and the children were living with me. After that, he just came and took them away without saying the reasons why. And since then he took them to live with him and his new wife. And the children constantly complain to me about things they are going through at home—verbal, you know; that they always get lashings, and punishments.

Sometimes they would be locked up for a whole day or for months without having anywhere to go or play. It’s not the first time my daughter had come home with a bruise on her legs or anywhere on her body. But this time the bruise was that big that I decided to report the matter to the police. I went to the police station on the twenty seventh. And since then nothing has been done. The police hasn’t been giving me any feedback. I have been visiting them and trying to find out what is happening and they are not saying anything. It seems to me that they aren’t going to do anything either. Even bring up to me saying that there are cases that are even bigger and that the lashing my daughter got was justifiable of a disciplinary actions that her father took against her. And the reason I come to the media is that I feel justice is not being made for me or my child. So I think that something needs to get done. And if this is what I have to do, I will do it because what is my concern are my children.”

Public Statement from the familly of Mr Gregory Faull

Against court – orders Dean Barrow Disburses 12 M from Belize Telemedia to family and friends

A Belizean court ordered Dean Barrow not to disburse 12 million dollars from BTL (Belize Telemedia ) to his family and friends. He did it anyway on Friday Dec 14 2012 at 8:00 AM.

The court is trying to hold the Belizean government in contempt and has ordered the return of the money. Barrow has refused.

Many years ago a mentor shared a bit of wisdom with me that can be summed up in the following statement, “perception is reality.” Complex in its simplicity, it is through this basic premise that I have developed my understanding of how the world works over the last several decades. It is this bit of knowledge alone that has helped to guide me when the world seems to lack common sense.

By nature, the way each of us perceives the world is as unique as our fingerprints. Our perceptions are built around genetics, the socialization process, education, life experience and other influencers such as the media. Of the things just listed, the media seems to play the biggest role in influencing people’s perceptions on things they can’t experience directly.

In the good old days of journalism, when being objective was at the heart of telling a story, this was not a problem. But with the rush of over sensationalized, self-serving writers that call themselves journalists in the market today, this is a problem. Receiving a fair trial in the court of public opinion today is next to impossible, and that I can attest to firsthand. So I am writing this to hopefully dispel some of the rumours and false reporting, and bring focus back to something that has been greatly overlooked – the death of Mr. Gregory Faull.

First and foremost, I would like to send my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Faull. I barely knew Mr. Faull, but from what others have expressed, he was a kind, fun loving man that was only looking to make the best of his retirement years. What happened to him is a great tragedy.

With that, the sad fact remains that the person(s) that killed Mr. Faull are still walking around free men and/or women – and that is no longer tolerable. The corruption and disregard for human life inBelize has to stop, and Mr. Faull’s murderer(s) must be brought to justice!

If it is of any value to Mr. Faull’s family, I would like to offer any support possible to help find his killer(s) and bring them to justice. I have already offered a $25,000 reward, but if there is anything else I can do from where I am at, I hope they will let me know.

Again, to the family of Mr. Faull, you have my deepest and most sincere condolences.

Arson Ombudsman Report, Belize Wildlife Protection Act (Chapter 220)

PG TV captured the horrific crime committed by villagers on Sept. 5, 2010. This actual footage is for the friends and family of Cherie and Vince Rose who never got to see what was aired inPunta Gorda,Belize. Our loss was a tragic, violent, and an unnecessary crime. We have been informed that the missing children are safe inGuatemalawith their biological father. Crime Stoppers has been contacted to investigate and we pray they will be able to confirm this information. There is a reward for the return of the missing children, and for any information leading to the arrest of the arsonists so that they never harm so many innocent lives again.

Aug. 17th, 2012, A declaration is granted that a riotous assembly of persons, as defined in section 2 of the Riot Compensation Act Chapter 338 assembled at the claimants’ property situated at Water Hole Road, Forest Home village, Toledo District for the purpose of executing a common purpose with violence and without lawful authority used such violence for that purpose to wit: they intentionally set fire and destroyed three houses, furniture, household utensils and other property owned by the claimants. I will now hear the parties on the issue of compensation.
