I am much less certain about the practical joker stories relating to the drug forums and the ‘games’ you played with the wired reporter. At the moment I am willing to take them at face value, but should tell you that there is something there that, from this layman’s perspective, doesn’t ring true. It’s as though you are looking back on what you thought was a harmless nonsensical visit from a prat of a reporter and thinking, “Oh geez, I set myself up for some major ridicule here! I need to nip this in the bud with a pre-emptive strike of misinformation…” It doesn’t matter if that is or isn’t the case, I’m just trying to tell you : that’s how it reads. In this case, saying less may be more useful: less is more.

Rather than dwell on the search for you, get people thinking about the murder of your neighbour. I read a comment from another poster here who suspects that it was related to a robbery, maybe even that the culprits came for your place and got the wrong property. But the best thing to do is talk to a lawyer and then keep your head down.
眼下, 有 3 likely scenarios for you to consider:-
1. You are caught. [ This may split into your being charged for your neighbour's murder, 还是不. Let's leave that for now].
2. The actual murderer[Ş] is/are caught.
3. You disappear from Belize and end up somewhere that doesn’t have an extradition treaty.
Even if scenario 2 happens, your current approach puts you at risk of “annoying” the Belize authorities to such an extent that they go after you anyway, or at least make your life a misery. If everything that happened is as you’ve written – and I’ll take that on faith for now – then your best option is 2. The best way to achieve that is for you to keep quiet. All the time you are posting and noisy, you give the authorities the excuse/opportunity to make you their primary target. Especially if you’re taking pot-shots at them.
Pick your metaphor: don’t rock the boat while you’re in it, 等等, 等等.
Call your lawyer. Don’t antagonize anyone. Look after your loved ones. 保持安全.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Some things for you to consider:
I am nearing 70 years of age – the usual “three score and ten” which is alloted to the average man. The older one becomes, the less one has to lose. This is obvious. Along with advancing age and diminishing future comes a change in perpective. 该 “我” gets slightly worn, and becomes rather insignificant. 该 “other persons” enlarge and take on a character unseen to the young. The result, if a person watches carefully, is something called compassion, a condition, 黯然, that seldom afflicts the young. I care now, as I never cared before. I am insignificant in the face of the world’s multitudes. What I might do for myself, for my future, is pitifully small. What I might do for those around me has to be greater. I am not pretending altruism – I don’t believe in it. We are all out for ourselves, 在一定程度上. This will never change. I am saying that at some point, with luck, a person can see those around him as a part of himself – maybe even all of himself.

Hey john hope you are doing well, that’s pretty rude and weird, i remember when I started dating a girl that had been single for 6 months and got hate mails from people I called friends. “emails” of course not phone calls or conversations. they were mad because I met her at a party her dipshit ex was at. oh well that’s how you know who you can trust.
i agree that the comments you are receiving on here are most likely a smear campaign by the people you are rebelling against. i have a friend who sued a former employer for severe sexual harassment and face a level of harassment that caused me to have to stay with her on a constant basis for protection.

We are at a point in the cycle of this story that most of the media is either rehashing the same old story or just waiting for something to happen. The only person who has attempted anything “新” is Josh Davis for obvious reasons.

The sad thing is this, if he had actually written a piece about the corruption in Belize and the ongoing harassment of Mr. 迈克菲, his ebooklet would endure and probably sell more. He still would have been called for interviews. The difference would be that the media would be less dismissive of this as just another off the rails rich guy who succumbed to sex and drugs.
Had he actually did real journalism, there would be substantiation for Mr McAfee’s claims. In an alternate reality where Mr. Faull was not murdered, it would be interesting how this latest prank on a member of the media would have played out.
